When the music left

Where did the music go?
It was there loud and clear
But not one note to hear
He packed up his bags in the night
Our plight too loud for him to bear
Now the days are filled with the sound
Of silence.
The music used to play through the day
I would dance with him till my eyes closed
And the music softly played a lullabye
Now he is gone
now there is no music
No joy, no soul.
Yet a faint tune plays in the distance
My heart is scattered in a different rhythm
I move my feet too slow
The coda comes to a close
He is gone
There is no music
No joy, no soul
When I press my hand upon the keys
Not a tune will play for me
Without the music
Everything feels like a grand pause
No other sound dares to claw at the silence
He is gone
There is no music
No joy, no soul
When the music left
The world went silent and dull
The music still plays faintly in my heart
But my crying is out of tune
He is gone
There is no music
No joy, no soul.
